To implement APEC Leader's Declaration and Action Plan on Marine field, to prompt marine service and security function in the social and economic development, to strengthen capacity building in the marine ecosystem management, and to realize the sustainable development of marine economy in the Asia-Pacific region, AMSD has set the following priorities for further development:

· Coastal and ocean ecosystem-based management 
· Climate change mitigation and ocean disaster prevention and mitigation
